75 Of Plaintiffs Support 65b Settlement

Johnson & Johnson Moves Closer to Resolving Baby Powder Lawsuits

75% of Plaintiffs Support $65B Settlement

Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) has secured critical support for its proposed $65 billion settlement with plaintiffs in its baby powder lawsuits. On May 19, 2023, the company offered an improved settlement of $65 billion to tens of thousands of plaintiffs.

In order for the settlement to proceed, it requires the support of at least 75% of the plaintiffs. According to recent reports, JNJ has now secured that level of support, bringing the company closer to resolving the long-standing legal battle.

Settlement Details and Timeline

The $65 billion settlement includes the following key elements:

  • Compensation for plaintiffs who allege they developed ovarian cancer, mesothelioma, or other health issues due to exposure to JNJ's talc products.
  • Establishment of a $2 billion fund to cover future claims related to JNJ's talc products.
  • Discontinuation of the sale of talc-based baby powder in the United States and Canada.

The settlement is expected to be finalized in the coming months, pending court approval. JNJ has stated that it intends to "expeditiously" distribute compensation to eligible plaintiffs.

This is a developing story, and we will provide updates as they become available.
