Canadian Grand Prix: Verstappen extends F1 lead with Montreal win

Norris takes second, Russell third as Stroll impresses in home race

Max Verstappen claimed a dominant victory at the Canadian Grand Prix to extend his lead at the top of the Formula 1 standings.

The Red Bull driver started from pole position and controlled the race from start to finish, despite a brief safety car period caused by a crash for Carlos Sainz.

Verstappen crossed the line 6.3 seconds ahead of Lando Norris in the McLaren, with George Russell taking third for Mercedes.

Lance Stroll finished seventh for Aston Martin, marking his best result of the season in front of his home crowd.

Lewis Hamilton, a seven-time winner of the Canadian GP, finished fourth for Mercedes.

Verstappen's victory was his fifth in the last six races, and his sixth from eight races in 2023.
