Alissa Pili Rising Star With Strong Family Support

Alissa Pili: Rising Star with Strong Family Support

Early Influences and Family Background

Alissa Pili, a star forward for the University of Utah women's basketball team, attributes her success to the love of sports and adventure instilled in her by her parents, Billy and Heather. Growing up in Alaska with a large and supportive family, Pili's childhood was filled with outdoor activities and a strong emphasis on teamwork and competition.

Parents' Influence

Billy, of Samoan descent, and Heather, an Inupiat tribe member, juggled the busy schedules of their nine children, balancing games and practices while encouraging their athletic pursuits. Eddie, Alissa's father, is a former college basketball coach who provided valuable guidance and support, while her mother, Priscilla, played a pivotal role in shaping her character and resilience.

Community Roots

Pili's hometown of Utqiagvik, Alaska, where her father moved from Hawaii as a teenager, played a significant role in her upbringing. It was there that she lived until she was 7 years old, and its close-knit community fostered her sense of belonging and pride in her heritage.
